Air Bag Parts

George,

The wheel looks a lot rougher than I remembered, I guess I never
payed it any attention since I was planning on replacing it anyway.
A couple of shots look the same, but different lighting brings out
the flaws differently.

The air bag securing screws are captive in the wheel, no worries there.

Notice no horn contact on the turn signal switch, instead there is a
slip ring on the clock spring and a brush contact on the back of the
wheel. The wiper switch looks common, you may be able to retain
your MFA switch.

In the pic of the combo switches, you can see the cut pigtail wire
for the horn circuit through the clock spring, it will splice easily.

You've seen pics of the double spline column before, the clock spring
splines to the larger one, the wheel to the smaller. The smaller spline
is the same old, but the shaft is a bit longer overall.
The shaft is easily changed, just remove the combo switches and
ignition lock housing, slip the wheel back on loosely nutted. Remove
the pinch bolt on the u-joint shaft, then gently hammer down on the
u-joint shaft while a helper pulls back on the wheel.

As rough as it looks, no hard feelings if you've lost interest, there was
never any profit motive for me anyway.

Ron
